December can be a month full of festivities and excitement, but with constant celebrations and outings, burnout can get the better of anyone. These are some ways we can prepare for a month brimming with celebrations so that we can actually enjoy these moments rather than getting caught up in the stress of it all.

Five tips to prepare your home and prime yourself to tackle the busy month ahead.

  • Declutter – It’s no secret the benefits from creating a clean and calm space within your home. In a month which can often bring chaos, being able to come home to a tidy and functional house is an absolute game changer. When decluttering, focus on the kitchen. The kitchen is often the heart of the home but even more so during the festive season. It’s time to be cut-throat, get rid of that tomato sauce that expired in 2017 and tackle the dreaded junk drawer.
  • Have some meals ready to go in the freezer – on a busy holiday weeknight, dinner can often be the least of your priorities. Take some time to prepare a big batch of soups or casseroles that freeze really well and can easily be defrosted for a quick and delicious dinner.
  • Decorate your main living spaces – decorate in advance so that you aren’t left last minute to decorate an area when you have guests on their way. Take the pressure off and decorate a main living space rather than your whole home. This will save you valuable time and money.
  • Create a wrapping station – having a wrapping station may sound trivial but having all your wrapping supplies ready to go should not be underestimated. Gather your wrapping paper, tape and gift tags and avoid the last minute freak out as you’re running out the door realising you haven’t wrapped the presents.
  • Plan ahead – From planning presents, having a holiday to do list and organising in advance outfits for events. Being prepared will lessen the likelihood of being caught out unprepared and therefore limiting unnecessary stress.

Less stress. More Joy.
